Our methodology

Every SalaryAsk analysis combines three things: live web search for current salary data (from Glassdoor, Levels.fyi, LinkedIn Salary, and PayScale), structured benchmarking by role, seniority, and location, and AI-assisted strategy generation trained on thousands of negotiation scenarios.

The roleplay feature uses a large language model playing the role of a realistic hiring manager — one who pushes back the way real hiring managers do, not one who immediately caves. The goal is to make the practice harder than the real thing, so when you have the real conversation, it feels familiar.

Market data is pulled fresh at the time of each analysis. Salary benchmarks shift — especially in tech and finance — and we don't want anyone negotiating with stale numbers.
